Good evening to all Rotaractors gathered here tonight. It is truly an honour to have been invited to tonight’s event. The Interact Club of Woodbrook Secondary feels it is a privilege to be acknowledged by our seniors. Our club intends to be busy for the period 2012-13. And we have already started. We held our Handing over Ceremony on Friday 23rd March 2012 and elected our new board.
Three representatives and myself attended the MODEL UNITED NATION ASSEMBLY (MUNA) where we were given the job of ‘note passers’. This required us to pass notes to the delegates participating in the event as they were not allowed to have any physical contact with each other. We were also required to read the notes to ensure they were politically correct and did not stray from the topics being debated.
Various topics were debated from AIDS to Human Cloning. We even found ourselves giving our opinion and speaking with the delegates during breaks about the issues.
Our future plans consist of a School beautification project that will not only beautify our school but to also educate the students on the importance of keeping our environment clean. One thing we hope to accomplish is to expand our Interact Club and get more students interested in Rotary Interact. To do this we plan to promote our Club through social networking and various forms of media showcasing the enlightening experience Rotary offers. In closing, I would like to thank you again for inviting me to this event. And let us all work together to make Rotary International Prosper! Long Live Rotary Interact!
Peace March Speech
Fellow Interacters and Rotarians. It is indeed a pleasure to be part of such an honourable event. I was truly pleased to learn that our theme is “Peace”. I feel it is extremely crucial for us to understand and carry out the ‘’Peace’’ of which we speak. But in order to portray this virtue, we must first ask ourselves, ‘’does peace exist in my mind?’’ I can assure you that ‘’Peace begins in the mind of men.’’ It is only when we fully understand this, can we be the embodiment of peace and ensure that it is spread efficiently. Rotary Interact, I know for a fact, can achieve this. Together, let us move forward being vessels of peace.
Thank you, on behalf of the Interact Club of Woodbrook Secondary.
