Meet our President

Picture
Club President Percy Parker-Williams
It was noted in the last census that there were approximately 51 thousand people in Trinidad and Tobago who are multidimensionally poor. With the advent of the Covid 19 Virus, it is safe to say this figure has doubled. Added to that, the Children’s Authority stated there were almost 100,000 children in care. Of this figure, you can
be sure that a large percentage can be classified as vulnerable to multidimensional poverty.

Multidimensional poverty encompasses the various deprivations experienced by poor people in their daily lives — such as poor health, lack of education, inadequate living standards, disempowerment, poor quality of work, the threat of violence, and living in areas that are environmentally hazardous, among others. Therein lies the reason for the ROTARY FOUNDATION, and our reason to be so deeply involved with helping others through Rotary.
It’s an inspiring delight.

I’m looking forward to maintaining the momentum of our past Presidents, while working along with a top-notch team of seasoned Rotarians, along with our young, exciting team of Rotaractors. Involved in all the work we continue to do will include the prevention of physical and emotional abuse to both women and children.

It’s truly wonderful when you can live by our Rotary motto: “Serve to change lives.”

President Percy.
