On Wednesday January 15, 2020, the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain rededicated the George Alleyne Library at the All-in-One Child Development Centre, Beetham Gardens.
Her Excellency, Paula-Mae Weeks, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago presided over the ceremony, unveiled the rededication plaque and gave the feature address. Her Excellency then engaged the pre-schoolers as she read the story of Moko Jumbies. Members of Mr. Alleyne’s family were present to witness the ceremony.

The Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain officially opened the George Alleyne Library at the All-In-One Child Development Centre, Beetham Gardens on Wednesday 22 March, 2017.

The All-In-One Child Development Centre has been serving the children of the Beetham Gardens community for several years and the Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain has been actively involved with its ongoing growth. From as far back as 2005, our Club has supported the work of All-In-One through the physical enhancement of the space, in order to provide an environment conducive to learning. This project is in keeping with two of Rotary International’s key areas of focus; basic education and literacy, and economic and community development.

The library is named after journalist George Alleyne (dec.), past member of our club who was instrumental in executing the Club’s work at the Centre. The Rotary Club of Central Port of Spain is pleased to supply the children of this community with books for this library. The Club is also grateful to the Zoomers Association of Trinidad and Tobago in Canada who donated the books that were added to the library in advance of the rededication ceremony.

With the support of Digicel Foundation's  EPIC programme, the club was able to assist with starting Grow Boxes and installing two 1000 water tanks at The Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence. The grow boxes will provide fresh produce for the residents while the water tanks will alleviate the water problems faced. The Club also provided 10 doz adult and children's personal items for the transient residents.
